On summer Sunday mornings, pedal around downtown in complete safety thanks to Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bikedays. Over 50 kilometres of parkways in Ottawa and Gatineau Park are reserved for cyclists, in-line skaters, runners and walkers. Experience the beauty of Canada’s Capital Region in a fun and environmentally friendly way. Take the parkways and cycle through beautiful Gatineau Park and along the Rideau Canal and the Ottawa River.
Throughout the month of June, visit the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum for a unique learning adventure! Attend daily demonstrations on a wide variety of subjects, including rabbit care, bread making, ice cream making, and cooking with honey; meet the alpacas and the chickens, and find out about cow washing and care. Come spend a day at the farm!
Every summer, the Town of Maniwaki invites visitors to take a trip in a voyageur canoe (rabaska)! Reserve one of the town’s two rabaskas, available free of charge: explore the Desert River that flows through the town, and stop and relax on one of the many deserted beaches along the shoreline.
The ear-tingling Amnesia Rockfest, Quebec’s largest rock festival, has quickly become a highlight of the summer season. This year’s edition features nearly 100 acts that are sure to shake things up! Catch Marilyn Manson, The Offspring, Alice Cooper and more, June 14–15 in Montebello.
On June 15, the Centre nautique de La Lièvre water sports centre welcomes families to the third annual Water Festival at Landing Park, in the Buckingham sector of Gatineau. Free admission to the site and free use of the boats. Under the bright Outaouais sun, enjoy a family excursion on the La Lièvre River in a canoe, paddleboat, single or double kayak, pontoon boat or Rabaska canoe. The day’s activities also include live entertainment, a cash BBQ and lots more !
This summer in the Outaouais region, your kids will be clamouring for vegetables—well, one vegetable in particular: MR. POTATO HEAD, the guest of honour at the Children’s Museum at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Visit the exhibition, then head to the Studio for an arts and crafts session. MR. POTATO HEAD invites children and parents to join him for exciting adventures in the jungle, under the sea, aboard a space station, and on an archaeological dig.
