January 11 to 18: 100 % family weekend
The kids are back in school, mom and dad working all week ... Let's say that family moments are becoming increasingly rare. This week, we suggest three things to do with your family in the national capital region.
Winter Celebration at Rideau Hall
Saturday, January 16, from 12:30 to 4 pm, celebrate the magic of Winter at Rideau Hall. Families are invited to enjoy over 15 free winter activities and traditions: dog sledding, horse-drawn wagon rides, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, skating (ice conditions permitting), craft station, curling and biathlon demonstrations, visit of the Ice Hog family from Winterlude, and more, all accompanied by a delicious hot chocolate. Click here for the full schedule of the day.
Animal Tracking on Snowshoes
What animal made these tracks in the snow? How do animals survive in the winter? Take a free guided snowshoe hike with your teens and a nature interpreter in Gatineau Park, and find out. Every Saturday and Sunday until March 6, snowshoes are provided, but places are limited. Reservation recommended.
Family Sundays at the National Gallery of Canada
From January 17, the families are awaited at the National Gallery of Canada for the Family Sundays special program. For the first weekend, dance is honoured under the theme Art Moves Me. Several activities are organized in different parts of the museum for children 0-12 years: puppets creation, songs and stories, sensory-base play, Gallery Tour, dance performance and workshops. Click here for the complete program from 11 am to 4 pm.
