July 27 to August 2: Navigating on the Outaouais region’s waterways
This week in #outaouaisfun, we’re not playing in the water, but on it! Here are three activities to try to beat the summer heat.
Stand-up paddle at Village Majopial
Surrounded by the waters of a rare clarity and an enchanting mountain scenery, the Village récréotouristique Majopial, located on the shores of Lac des Trente-et-un Milles, is a paradise for outdoor lovers. Among the wide range of water activities offered: the stand-up paddle (SUP). Whether you are trying the initiation class or the SUP yoga class, you will test your balance ... and work muscles that never knew existed.
And if you are as gourmet as myself, you'll probably be tempted by the gastronomic restaurant L’Huile d’Olive, just a few steps from the shore.
Aqua-Taxi on the Ottawa River
In the Outaouais region, even our taxis go on water! Embark on the Aqua-Taxi, a 100% ecological watercraft that will guide you to the Canadian Museum of History and the wharf of the locks at Ottawa, designated UNESCO World Heritage site. During this unique experience in Canada, take some time to relax and admire the stunning views of the Ottawa River. Bikes and strollers are even welcomed aboard.
Riverboarding at Horizon X
If you enjoy rafting, you should try riverboarding. The concept is simple: you stroll down the Ottawa River, lying down on your belly, on a board. Of course, you will be provided with a life jacket and a helmet, and will be under the supervision of experienced instructors. The beauty of this three-hour expedition is that even if you fail to ride the waves, you can back-up a few steps and try again. This is just another way Horizon X offers you adrenaline-fuelled adventures that you crave on the Mighty Ottawa River!
