Lucky we are to have an amazing land with a diverse landscape in Outaouais. Think about all the watercourses and how they each come alive in different forms across the region. This week I invite you to admire three falls ... with a small twist.

Climbing the canyon’s rock face at Coulonge Falls Park

This rare activity is the only of its kind in the region and one of the few in Canada. Located in the Canyon of the Coulonge River, the Via Ferrata course consists of a climb/walk along the canyon’s rock face (more than 500 metres), using cables and anchor points to help you progress along the way. It’s like mountain climbing without the skills being required. The course is offered in three different options with varying degrees of difficulty. You will, of course, enjoy a stunning view of the falls along the way!

Pedicure in front of the MacLaren waterfalls in Wakefield

Imagine being pampered to the sound of the water crashing on the rocks. Soooo relaxing isn’t? You may stop dreaming and take the time to get out of your daily routine for a moment at the Wakefield Mill Hotel & Spa. Enjoy a complete pedicure service with a panoramic view of the waterfalls and river, which also includes herbal foot soak, exfoliation and massage. End the day with a gastronomic experience…still with an amazing view of the MacLaren waterfalls! Perfect for a girls getaway.

Family picnic next to the Plaisance waterfalls

Visit the Plaisance Falls historic site (French wesbite), a great spot for a picnic with family! A scenic lookout, observation points and a hiking trail leading to the bottom of the falls provides visitors an up close look at the site’s spectacular natural beauty. With a 63-metre vertical drop, the falls were an important economic factor in the founding of the 19th-century village of North Nation Mills (now only a memory). On-site interpretive activities bring to life this important part of the history of the Petite-Nation.
