Offering more than 800 kilometers of trails, the Outaouais region is a true must when it comes to cycling either in an urban location or a countryside setting. In anticipation of the long weekend, here are 3 cycling routes for young and young at heart cyclists.

Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bikedays

Every Sunday morning, starting May 17, the road is yours! Hop on your bike and safely enjoy the scenic parkways closed to vehicle traffic, in Ottawa and Gatineau Park. Over 50 kilometres of parkways are open for cyclists, in-line skaters, runners and walkers. Ideal for families with small children.

Cycling on the Capital’s Pathways

There are over 600 kilometres of bike paths in Canada’s Capital Region. Needless to say that one of the best ways to explore Ottawa–Gatineau is on two wheels. Not only the pathways connect the two sides of the Ottawa River, you'll come across regional gems such as the 8 national museums and many urban beaches! Take the opportunity to admire the majestic flower blossoming during the Tulip Festival, the largest of its kind in the world.

Plaisance National Park

The Outaouais region’s countryside features more than 200 kilometers of winding scenic nature-filled paths. One of the must-sees: the Parc national de Plaisance (Plaisance National Park) with its 26-kilometre network of natural paths and two islands that are connected thanks to the Carrière path. Cyclists and pedestrians can now explore this landscape to their heart's content. A true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, the park offers many activities, including camping, canoeing and kayaking. Guaranteed fun for the whole family!
