Your own private Western

The Outaouais is made of beautiful sceneries. Contemplating them from the the road can be breathtaking but there's nothing quite like riding in a serene setting on the back of a horse. Take a day to reconnect with nature; first by feasting your eyes on a magnificent site and then by bonding with a horse in the picturesque Petite-Nation La Lièvre.

Before going to Ferme Cabriole for a day of horseback riding, stop at the Plaisance Falls. The site was once the core of the village of North Nation Mills, of which not much is left today. Breathe in the fresh air. Isn't it a lovely day to be outside? Ferme Cabriole also has quite the menagerie, too! There are the horses, but also rabbits, sheep, cats, dogs, and birds that will provide your daily dose of fluffy cuteness. Have dinner at La Toquade in Saint-André-Avellin and, in July, end your day at a professional rodeo during the Festival western de St-André-Avellin; it's the kind of day that's good for the soul!

Visit the Plaisance Falls historic site, a great spot for a picnic with family or friends! A scenic lookout, observation points and a hiking trail let you get right up close to the site’s spectacular natural beauty. With their 63-metre vertical drop, the Falls were an important economic factor in the founding of the 19th-century village of North Nation Mills (now only a memory). On-site interpretive activities bring to life this important part of the history of the Petite-Nation.
