Sport events: It’s #Outaouaisfun to push your limits!
Physical training is big these days, and people are always looking for opportunities to improve their fitness and challenge themselves. Over the next few months, there are lots of those opportunities in the Outaouais! Here’s a list of sport events coming up in our region:
Run Ottawa Free Saturday 5K Series at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, first Saturday of every month (except November): May 7, June 4, July 2, August 6, September 3, October 1 and December 3.No advance registration required.
Wakefield Covered Bridge Run: May 7. 3K family run, 5K and 10K run/walk, 10K trail run, and 21.1K half marathon trail run. Register online until May 4, or on site on race day.
Sans violence pour elles: May 14. 5K and 10K fundraising run for Outaouais women’s shelters. Sign up now!
Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend: May 28 & 29. There are still a few spaces left for the 2K family run, 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, and the Kids Marathon for CHEO. Register today!
Mud Hero: June 3–5. 6K, 16+ obstacles in North America’s muddiest obstacle series. New this year: the Ultra 10K, with 21+ obstacles. Registration now open!
Fondation santé Papineau Half Marathon: June 12. 1K, 5K and 10K, and the half marathon (21K). Registration closes June 3.
Reebok Spartan Race at Edelweiss: June 18 & 19. 5K Spartan Sprint with 15+ obstacles. I participated in 2014 and 2015 and it was a ton of #Outaouaisfun: read all about it here. There are a few spots left for the Saturday and Sunday races, but they’re filling up fast!
25th annual Gatineau Triathlon: July 9at Leamy Lake Park. 1K, 5K and 10K running races. Registration closes July 4.
The Color Run: July 9. A unique 5K paint race that celebrates health, happiness, and individuality. Registration now open.
MEC Ottawa Race Three at Camp Fortune: July 10. 3K, 5K and 9K trail races. Registration now open.
Foam Fest at Edelweiss: July 23. 5K fun race through foam and bubbles. Registration now open.
Color Vibe 5K: August 6 at Wesley Clover Parks, Ottawa. Get blasted with colour as you run a 5K race! Registration now open.
Canada Army Run: September 18. 5K and 10K races and a half marathon. Registration now open.
Wakefield Moonlight River Run: September 24. 5K and 10K run/walk, 10-mile express run. Registration now open.
Heart & Stroke Foundation Walk & Run for Heart: September 26. 2.5K and 5K run/walk, 5K Nordic walk. Registration now open.
Run for Leucan: October 1. 2K and 5K run/walk, 10K race. Registration opens this summer.
Mont Cascades Summit Challenge: October 8. 1K, 2K and 5K mountain trail runs through the beautiful autumn colours. Registration opens June 1.
MEC Ottawa Gatineau Park Marathon: October 30. 5K, half marathon and full marathon. Registration now open.
Grand Prix Cycliste Gatineau: June 2–5. 111.8K Gran Fondo (cumulative altitude of 1,490 m) and 69.3K Medio Fondo (altitude 342 m).Registration now open.
Tour de la Petite-Nation BMR: June 11 & 12. 1.6K, 29K, 42.5K, 48K, 52K, 80K and 99.5K circuits. Registration now open.
Mountain Fest: July 24–26. Mountain bike trials. Registration opens soon.
Other sport events
Gatineau Triathlon: July 9 at Leamy Lake Park. Olympic and sprint triathlons and duathlons, running races (1K, 5K, 10K), aquathlon (swim and run) and the Gatineau Triathlon Corporate Challenge.
Bushtukah Duathlon of La Pêche: April 30. Full and sprint distance (trail run, bike, road run). Registration now open.
Raid Pulse Adventure Races: May 21 and August 27. On May 21, participate in the P’tit Raid Pulse (2 hours, trekking and mountain biking) or the Raid Adventure (8 hours, trekking, paddling, mountain biking and orienteering). August 27 is the date of the Raid Sprint Adventure Race (4 hours, trekking, paddling, mountain biking and orienteering). Registration now open.
Meech Lake Triathlon: July 2. 1,200 m swim, 23.5K bike, 6.4K run. Registration closes June 30.
Upper Gatineau Whitewater Festival: August 24–26. Registration opens soon.
Great Gatineau River Run Festival: September 24. An opportunity for families and friends to spend quality time together on the water. Family paddle, amateur and professional races. Registration opens this summer.
