December 7 to 13: Celebrate Holidays with some #Outaouaisfun's drinks.
When friends and family visit over the holidays, it’s customary to offer them a seasonal beverage: a glass of traditional egg nog, or maybe some of that crème de menthe that’s been lurking in the back of the cupboard for years, or a shot of the pink tequila your aunt picked up at the duty-free on her last trip to Cayo Coco … Perish the thought! This year, entertain your guests in style with festive drinks made right here in #Outaouaisfun.
Known for its delicious strawberry wine, Domaine Mont-Vézeau enjoys a well-deserved reputation in the region. Located in the Petite‑Nation La Lièvre, the winery produces red and white wines, a fortified raspberry wine, and of course its famous port-style strawberry wine. The vineyard comprises 2,750 metres of grapevines and a 2‑hectare strawberry patch. Treat your holiday guests to something tasty from the Domaine! By the way, a little piece of dark chocolat and a glass of their strawberry wine is the perfect combination to start the New Year. (Available at the SAQ)
Cider from the Croque-Pomme orchard is sure to fly out of the mini-bar at your next Christmas party. The orchard produces no fewer than six different varieties of hard and sweet cider, from ice cider to apéritif-style and sparkling ciders—so there’s something for every taste! Located in the Petite‑Nation, between Thurso and Masson, this magnificent orchard has been making cider since 1994. Give your guests that holiday sparkle with a glass of Croque-Pomme cider. It’s delicious with some pancake in your holiday brunch!
Vignoble du Clos Baillie
The Vignoble du Clos Baillie is located next to Gatineau Park, in an area with an exceptional microclimate. It was established in 1999, but it wasn’t until 2004 that the vineyard began producing wine, because it takes grapevines five years to produce fruit suitable for harvesting. Fortified wines, sweet wines, red and white table wines—there’s a wide selection, and they’re all delicious. One of these fine vintages would go nicely with the Yule log you’re planning to serve for dessert this year!
For holiday gift-giving and for entertaining, spirits from Outaouais are sure to please. Available in a wide range of flavours and sizes and carried by several local stores, they’re a great way to make a distinctive impression this Christmas. Please drink responsibly.
