Ruisseau de la Brasserie: from industrial to cultural

Gatineau (Québec), Canada

Used for thousands of years by North American First Nations, the Ottawa River (Kitchissipi) and its tributaries became popular with explorers and coureurs des bois, and attracted settlers to the area. The first settlers found the juncture of the Chaudière Falls and Brewery Creek particularly suitable for economic and social activities, and the site became the hub for Hull’s industrial development in the 19th and 20th centuries.
