August 15 to 21: Three events you won’t want to miss!

August 16 2016

There are only two weekends left before the kids go back to school. So you’ll want to make the most of them before getting back into the old routine. Besides, the weather is perfect! This week, we have three completely different events that will delight the whole family.

Queen Bee Party

On August 20, the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum invites families to a one-day event buzzing with activity. As part of International Honey Bee Day, come join the Queen Bee Party for a variety of bee-themed activities: beehive rentals, a mini-market (where you can buy honey and honey products), honey ice cream made by hand, crafts, yoga, recipes, teas, and the Taking Care of Beesness exhibition.

Festival de la Principale

Aylmer presents its third annual Festival de la Principale from August 19 to 21. One of the highlights of the festival is the Gigantika exhibition, bringing together more than 30 giant inflatable works of art in a variety of shapes. They’ll be on display during the day and in the evening, all lit up. Between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., inflatable jumpers, face painting, music, art workshops and exhibitions await you on the fairground, which stretches over two kilometres.

TWIST Fibre Festival

Enthusiasts of sewing, knitting, weaving, dressmaking and anything textile will converge the weekend of August 18 to 21, in Saint-André-Avellin, for the 5th edition of the TWIST Fibre Festival. The event includes an assortment of workshops, where participants will learn varied techniques, as well as 125 booths presented by the various textile exhibitors. You’ll also discover a food fair, free children’s activities, a ton of textile demonstrations and a series of talks.
