The new year has barely begun, and there are already tons of activities being offered. To start 2018 off on the right foot, here are 10 must-try activities for January.

Snowshoe under the stars in Gatineau Park

Enjoy the fresh air under the stars during a Friday-evening snowshoe excursion in Gatineau Park. By the light of the moon, learn about the park’s flora and fauna from a trained naturalist. An unforgettable experience!

When: Every Friday from January 5 to March 9, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Nighttime snowshoeing with torches at Domaine de l’Ange-Gardien

Accompanied by a naturalist guide, go for a snowshoe hike along torch-lit trails through the woods, with stops for maple taffy on snow, hot chocolate, and the Domaine’s famous home-made baked beans. Family hike (900 m) and intermediate hike (1,500 m) available. Reservations required.

When: Every Sunday in January at 5 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. (depending on package)

For the first time ever, you can skate in the shadow of the Parliament Buildings and the iconic Peace Tower. The Canada 150 rink is open until February 25. Don’t forget to reserve your skate time on the website.

The Mosaïvernales take over from the hugely successful MosaïCanada horticultural exhibition held this past summer in Jacques Cartier Park. This winter version will feature illuminated Mosaïcultures structures, and snow and ice sculptures created by renowned sculptors from China.
