Remembrance Day

The entire capital observes Remembrance Day. Every evening, images of a rain of poppies are projected onto the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill. Each of the 117,000 poppies represents a fallen soldier. Participate in the official ceremony organized by the Legion. At the Canadian War Museum, gather in the Memorial Hall. At exactly 11 a.m. on November 11, sunlight shines through a single window to frame the headstone from the grave of Canada’s Unknown Soldier. The Museum also organizes several Remembrance Day activities, including special tours, poppy-making workshops, and a reading of letters written in wartime.
