Fall has well and truly arrived, and this week we’ve lined up some activities that will boost your well-being. Taking care of yourself, celebrating local artisans and trailblazers, admiring the first fall colours, and laughing out loud—those are just a few suggestions for fun fall activities in the Outaouais!

2018 Salon mieux-vivre de l’Outaouais
The Salon mieux-vivre is the ultimate can’t-miss event for people interested in maintaining their energy and their physical and mental health. Yoga and Pilates sessions, posture and breathing workshops, guided self-awareness meditations, and many vendors and exhibitors await you at this unique trade show that’s all about well-being and life balance.

You can save a few dollars by buying your tickets online on the Salon du mieux-vivre de l’Outaouais website. Special $5 admission fee for public servants at lunch hour on September 28, on presentation of federal government ID.
Fall fairs
This weekend, you’re invited to visit the Foire marchande de Gatineau craft fair and the Buckingham Fall Fair to meet and mingle with more than 100 local merchants and artisans. An ideal opportunity to discover some new products and support local vendors. Happy shopping!

Folk picnic in Meech Creek Valley
The National Capital Commission (NCC)’s annual celebration of fall colours is back in style this year, with activities lined up all month long. To kick off the season, there’s a folk picnic in Gatineau Park, with a craft fair, children’s activities, kite demonstrations, various workshops and more. Bring your friends, your kids and your lunch, and enjoy a beautiful day in the great outdoors!

On Saturdays and Sundays from September 29 to October 21, the NCC provides a free shuttle service between downtown Ottawa and Gatineau and various places in Gatineau Park, so that everyone can get out there and enjoy the fall colours.
Speaking Up, Speaking Out: Trailblazing Women in Canada
To celebrate Women’s History Month and the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in Canada, the Canadian Museum of History in partnership with Historica Canada presents an evening of storytelling. Historian Charlotte Gray hosts five remarkable women as they share their stories and celebrate the women who have fought, and continue to fight, for equality.

The event will be in English with simultaneous interpretation in French.
Launch of the 20th season of Les Mercredis de l’humour
Yes indeed, Les Mercredis de l’humour comedy nights at Mardi Gras are back in force this year! Hosted by Marko Métivier for the second consecutive year, the 2018 season promises to be full of surprises, talent and laughs. And in case you need another reason to come to opening night next Wednesday, Mardi Gras will be serving spaghetti for just $3 a plate!
