April 25 to May 2: #Outaouaisfun themed menus

A tasty meal is one of life’s great pleasures—certainly one of mine! I’m a big fan. This week, I’ve tracked down some highly original menus offered by restaurants in our region. Go ahead: let yourself be tempted by what our talented local chefs have cooked up for you!

Very punny!

Some restaurants have fun creating special menus featuring plays on words. In the Outaouais, that would be the Cellier. Wednesday nights are 5 @ huîtres (“five to oysters,” a play on cinq à huit, or “five to eight”): from 5 to 8 p.m., oysters are just $1 each. Thursdays are devoted to tartares, tard, tard! (tartares, late, late!) From 8 to 11 p.m., all tartares on the menu are half price. Definitely worth checking out!

Chef’s inspiration

In the Outaouais, our chefs love to create imaginative dishes using the ingredients they have on hand. At Bistro CoqLicorne, they’ve come up with Poutine Tuesdays! Every Tuesday night, the menu features two different and highly inventive poutines. Last Tuesday, for instance, you could order a fried chicken, mango salsa and cream sauce poutine, or one made with lamb curry, green peas, sour cream and fresh coriander.

Seafood in the spotlight

Logically, “May” should rhyme with “lobster,” because the two go so well together. To celebrate lobster season, L’Orée du Bois restaurant has introduced its “Lobster Festival” menu. Every Sunday in May and June, enjoy a sumptuous, all-you-can-eat, lobster-themed gourmet brunch. Over at Arôme Seafood and Grill at the Casino du Lac-Leamy, it’s Lobster Mania every day from 5 p.m., from May 2 to June 16.

And there are only a few days left to take advantage of Arôme’s all-you-can-eat mussels and fries menu: the offer ends this Thursday, April 28. Every day from 5 p.m., enjoy a feed of mussels and crispy fries, with a choice of 5 sauces for the mussels and 4 mayonnaises for the fries. If you can’t make it by April 28, you should know that the recently renovated Quai St-Raymond serves all-you-can-eat mussels and fries every Tuesday, with four different choices plus the inspiration of the day.
