August 24 to 30: Pick your own berries in Outaouais

Published on August 24 2015

On a farm in the countryside or along a golf course, the Outaouais region has all kinds of fruits that’s ripe for the picking. Take advantage of the warm weather to pick your own berries.

Pssst… Don’t forget to bring back enough fruits in order for Grandma to prepare her famous homemade jam!

Les fruits du Sommet

Enjoying hand-picked fruits while playing golf? It’s possible … Only in Outaouais! Le Sommet Golf Club invites you to play on their 9-hole golf course, where you’ll be enjoying their numerous varieties of small fruits along the way. After the game, pick up your own among their 10 varieties of raspberries and 7 of blueberries. Make sure to bring some home!

Potager Eardley

This agritourism farm grows fruits and vegetables, including strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, sweet corn, pumpkins, and squash. In addition to inviting you to pick-up your own fruits, Potager Eardley produces artisanal ice cream, gelato, sorbet, and frozen yogurt. And let’s not forget about their famous strawberry waffles in the morning!

Families are also invited to take a wagon ride in the fields and and meet farm animals . Fun for all guaranteed!

Domaine Mont-Vézeau

Located in the Petite-Nation La Lièvre, Domaine Mont Vézeau is known for its unique complicity between the vineyards, which is composed of no less than 9,000 vines, and the five acres of strawberry fields. In addition to the traditional red and white wines, the owners produce a strawberry wine and a raspberry fortified wine greatly appreciated by oenophiles.

Many activities are offered on site: picking your own strawberries, self-guided and guided tours of the vineyards and wine tasting. Personally, I love the picnic areas in the heart of the vineyard, where you can enjoyed freshly picked strawberries!
