Six Family Restaurants to Rediscover During Winterlude

Published on February 1 2018

Physical activity certainly gives you an appetite! After a great day of outdoor fun in the Snowflake Kingdom, sit down to a hearty meal at one of the nearby restaurants, where you’ll find something for everyone in the family.

Bistro CoqLicorne

For a casual meal in a friendly atmosphere, head for the Bistro CoqLicorne. The menu features tapas, grilled dishes, sandwiches, soups and salads, all prepared with fresh local products. Dig in!

The restaurant offers two children’s breakfast specials: a plate of pancakes, and eggs with a side of fruit. You can also order half portions from the regular menu.

Good to know: Poutine Tuesday every Tuesday night!

Le Troquet

Some would describe it as a bar, others as a café, but Le Troquet is also a bistro-style restaurant with appealing fare for all tastes. You’ll love the unpretentious menu of pasta, soups and burgers, and the cooks will be happy to adapt the pasta dishes for younger diners, or plate smaller portions. Games, crayons and coloured pencils will keep the kids busy until the food arrives, while Mom and Dad enjoy a happy-hour beer. The best of both worlds!

Yes, it’s a microbrewery and pub, but Gainsbourg welcomes families too! Prepared with quality local products, menu items include sandwiches, burgers, signature dishes such as mussels and fish, and a children’s special. The perfect choice for all ages!

Who doesn’t love pizza? With its wide selection of toppings, Piz’za-za is all set to serve up THE perfect pie for every taste: double pepperoni, hold the mushrooms, extra toppings, sweet or spicy … It’s pizza and pasta heaven! Parents can pair their selection with a glass of wine from the monthly selections made by guest sommeliers.

BBQ Shop

Are you a hard-core carnivore? Run, don’t walk, to BBQ Shop, with its great selection of meats smoked fresh daily. On a platter, in a burger or on a poutine, they’re so good you’ll want seconds! Little tummies will like the mini-hamburgers—you might want to order a few. In a rush? Grab your lunch to go, and go back outside to play!

My personal favourite: the mac & cheese!

Le Saint-Éloi Café Bistro

For breakfast, lunch or supper, treat yourself to a meal at Le Saint-Éloi Café Bistro. Enjoy a gorgeous view of Leamy Lake as you tuck into eggs, grilled dishes, pizza or pasta. The children’s menu (smaller portions, smaller prices!) ensures that everyone will find something to their liking.

Good to know: The restaurant closes at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays and 2 p.m. on Mondays.
