Planning a night out? Downtown Gatineau is all set to welcome you for an evening of fine food and fun!

1. Girls’ night out at the Casino

The Casino du Lac-Leamy has thought of everything for a great night out! Their popular theme nights feature games, contests, and a photo booth at the entrance for taking perfect selfies (alongside fabulous dancers and other colourful characters) … Start your evening with a pre-dinner themed cocktail at the Bar 7, then enjoy a fabulous meal with your girlfriends at one of the complex’s outstanding restaurants: Arôme at the Hilton, Banco, or—for the ultimate in elegance—Le Baccara, the region’s only 5-Diamond-rated restaurant. It’s worth it just to see the servers whipping the cloches off all your plates at the same time! Talk about the royal treatment!

After dinner, head for the Zone and have fun trying out the interactive games hosted by energetic MCs (who are very easy on the eye!). It’s a riot! There are even separate tables where you can learn to play. On your way to the Zone, have a look at the Casino’s collection of artworks displayed on the walls. They’re impressive!

Got your tickets for Club ALÉA? Top DJs will have you dancing until the wee hours in the Casino’s trendy nightclub! There are reserved sections, bottle service, and even a VIP guest list. Get out your glowsticks and your most dazzling smiles—you’ll shine bright among the Beautiful People!

2. An evening out with friends!

Start with a bite to eat in Old Hull: a delicious, juicy burger, a gourmet poutine, or the daily special with a cold beer at the Gainsbourg or the Brasseurs du Temps, or a gourmet pizza and a nice glass of vino (what the heck, let’s go for the whole bottle) at Piz’za-za, for instance. Mmm-mmm, good!

And now, we have two equally tempting options for you!

Option 1:

Ready to party? Destination Laval-Aubry (it’s not far), where you’ll find a range of excellent bars within easy walking distance of each other.

An upbeat atmosphere in the oldest institution in the downtown core, with two bars to serve you? Must be Aux 4 Jeudis!

One-of-a-kind cocktails, fine Quebec beers, and top-notch music? Welcome to Où Quoi!

Watching the game while sharing a platter of wings and a pitcher of beer among friends? The Pêle-Mêle sports bar is the place for you!

Wherever you go (and we’re betting you’ll want to try more than one spot), you’ll find lively crowds and lots of action in Old Hull!

Option 2:

It’s a good idea to reserve tickets in advance for these popular attractions—they tend to fill up fast!

After supper in Old Hull, follow the Culture Trail to the Canadian Museum of History. The painted red line will probably be hidden under the snow, but the museum is hard to miss! Once there, you’ll find the Gatineau Winter Beerfest in full swing. Whether you’re beer connoisseurs or just a bunch of friends interested in discovering some outstanding Quebec beers, you’re sure to enjoy the evening! Live music, lots of tasting stations, a heated yurt, a bonfire, warm blankets for sitting outdoors … We hope you’ve got some room left, because there’s some great food on offer to accompany the beers you’ll be sampling! The servings are intentionally small so that you can try several different brews. Who knows? You may discover your new favourite!

Note that most downtown establishments are members of Tolérance Zéro, which offers rides home to potentially impaired drivers and their vehicles—just in case you blow over the limit.

3. A romantic evening

Downtown Gatineau is romantic! It’s ideal for an intimate night out with your significant other. Let’s start with an good, original restaurant with a low-key atmosphere.

The menu and the pintxos at Les Vilains garçons change daily according to the chef’s inspiration, so every visit is different, and you and your partner can enjoy sampling various dishes. The wine and beer list is pretty impressive, too! A journey of discovery that’s ideal for two!

The elegance of Le Cellier is perfect for date night. Soft lighting, small areas sectioned off for maximum intimacy, dishes outshone only by your partner’s beautiful eyes … Your date will be impressed by your taste, no matter what you order.

Rustiek gastropub serves truly outstanding meals. As the name implies, the fare is inspired by the rustic charm of local Quebec products, with an upscale contemporary twist. You may well have trouble deciding what to order, and you and your date will probably end up sampling each other’s choices! A menu with a delicious local flavour!

♫♪ Heaven was a drink of wine … ♪♫ A romantic dinner wouldn’t be complete without a glass (or two) of fine wine. By a happy coincidence, that’s the house specialty at Soif – bar à vin! Red, white, rosé or bubbly, you’re sure to find the perfect glass or bottle to accompany the delectable meal you’ve ordered from their outstanding menu.

After your culinary adventure, the night is yours! How about taking in a play? The Théâtre de l’Île is right around the corner, and what could be more romantic than sitting in the dark, holding hands and watching a good show?

4. The morning after …

Feeling a bit fragile after your night out? We have just the thing to get you back in shape: a hearty brunch!

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Bistro CoqLicorne serves delectable dishes (we’re talking way more than bacon and eggs here) to counter the excesses of the previous night. For memorable eggs Benny or a classic “blue plate special,” the Café Cognac opens early on Saturdays to welcome weary (all-) night owls and bright-eyed morning larks alike. And for a breakfast that matches the elegance of your evening outfit (whether or not you’re still wearing it), you can’t do better than Arôme at the Hilton Lac-Leamy, where you might round out the meal with a dip in the indoor/outdoor pool.

That’s just a taste of what Gatineau has to offer, and the many different ways to party in our fine city! Don’t forget to add the #gatineau and #outaouaisfun hashtags to your photos! #YOLO
