The Casino goes Vegas!

Las Vegas is to casinos what Paris is to fashion and Hollywood is to movies. But you don’t have to rush out and book a flight to Nevada: until February 23, the Casino du Lac-Leamy is going all out, Vegas style!

Fun for life!

Warning: The unwritten rule that “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” doesn’t apply here, because I’m going to spill every detail of my experience at the Casino du Lac-Leamy’s Vegas Nights. And believe me, it’s worth it!

You don’t have to have visited the famous city to see that the Casino du Lac-Leamy has fully embraced the Vegas concept! All the essentials are here, to everyone’s delight. I start my adventure at the King Chapel, because everyone knows a trip to Vegas wouldn’t be complete without a little wedding interlude. I’m given a charming veil, while my guest chooses a fascinator that would turn duchess Kate Middleton green with envy. As long as we’re getting married, we might as well go big—after all, that’s what Vegas is all about! The sound of the Wedding March fills the pretty chapel, and the King beckons us to come forward. This is it: the big moment has come! The king of rock ‘n’ roll unites our destinies (not for life, but for fun) and seals our union with dazzling candy rings.

Nothing is too beautiful in Vegas!

To celebrate getting hitched, we head off to the Banco Bistro for a little something to eat. And when Vegas comes to Canada, you get a truly stupendous combination: Vegas extravagance coupled with delicious Canadian poutine. Introducing the world’s most exuberant, amazing, decadent, sparkling (trust me) poutine! To say it’s impressive would be an understatement. With its smoked beef brisket, pan-seared foie gras, half lobster tail tempura, red wine gravy, russet and sweet potato fries, soft-boiled egg, and garnish of gold flakes, the Strip Bling-Bling Poutine is one hearty dish. And as if that weren’t enough, it’s topped with sparklers!

Once the last fry has been devoured, it’s time to discover the excitement of Vegas at the Casino. I don’t have far to look: I can hear the voice of the MC, and the Money Machine contestants are lining up! As one of them enters the booth, the excitement is at its peak: she’s running a chance to win up to $ 7000! Needless to say, grabbing as many fluttering bills as possible in 20 seconds is quite a challenge. The starting signal goes off, the timer starts running, and the contestant gives it all she’s got! The mood in the crowd is electric, and the speeding timer ramps up the energy. All too soon, it’s over! The contestant has managed to grab 11 of the million bills issued for the $1-million grand prize draw, coming up on March 3.

After all that excitement, it’s time to take a break at Bar 7 to sample a Vegas Hurricane, the official cocktail of Vegas Nights. The drink’s vivid hue is 100% Vegas, but the taste is surprising: just sweet enough, with a pleasant hint of bitterness.

Time for the magic

The time has come for entertainment, glitz and over-the-top costumes: the showgirls are coming onstage! Smiling, perfectly synchronized, the four dancers deliver a truly Vegas-worthy performance. Carried away by the frenzy, we find ourselves doing a few samba steps! Just when I think I’ve seen it all, a magician approaches us and does a few tricks. And here we are full of incomprehension, trying (without success) to find an explanation for what has just happened! David Copperfield can go get dressed because there are also amazing magic tricks at the Casino du Lac-Leamy!

Once again the Casino du Lac-Leamy has hit the mark with its Vegas Nights. Discover all the surprises it has in store, every Thursday through Saturday until February 23!
