Destination Copacabanashak in #Outaouaisfun
Ahhh, that wonderful time of year when everything is soggy, the skies are grey, and we still have a few weeks of sort-of-winter, sort-of-spring to get through. It’s also the time of year when lots of folks flee Quebec for southern climes in hopes of catching a few tropical rays.
Well, they’re in luck, because this year the tropics have come to the Outaouais. Until April 10, the Casino du Lac-Leamy is running a special promotion, Feel the Heat at the Casino. Take a drive to the “Copacabanashak” for an exotic and fun experience. It’s a lot cheaper than a stay at an all-inclusive resort, and you could win big!
An all-inclusive program!
The Casino has put together a tropical-themed program where a traditional sugar shack ambiance meets the exotic tropics—hence the name, Copacabanashak.
On March 4, I headed to the Casino for a tropical evening, and I’m here to tell you there really is something for everyone. For a few hours, I felt like I was at a tropical resort. As soon as you enter the Casino, you’re invited to take a picture against a truly stunning backdrop: a team of pink flamingos pulling a dog sled. And that photo sets the mood for the evening!
All the Casino’s bars are serving tropical cocktails with a Quebec twist: maple Caipirinhas, Cachaça tonics, Gaspé libres … My personal favourite was the maple Mojito. Every Friday in March, Bar 7 is offering free mixology workshops. I have only one word to describe the bartender’s skill: WOW! It’s truly impressive.

Also at Bar 7, after 11 p.m. you can order their famous Brazilian-style poutine for just $3. This is one outstanding poutine, the classic recipe jazzed up with tomato salsa and skewers of marinated beef. A taste sensation!
Every Sunday until April 3, you can enjoy a Copacabanashak brunch at Arôme restaurant, featuring such delicacies as carioca salad, a churrasco station with marinated meats, and maple bread pudding … a tasty combo of Quebec and exotic flavours.
Save the date!
On Sunday, March 27 at Club Aléa, warm up at the Brazilian Carnaval, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., with DJ Loco Fern and multi-instrumentalist and percussionist Raffaele Artigliere.
Don’t miss the Scandibiza wrap party on Saturday, April 9 at Club Aléa. Electronic music meets Latin rhythms in the DJ Red Bull THRE3STYLE competition with DJs Ivan Rankic, Heebz and Adam Doubleyou, plus live dance entertainment and a Club Med vacation to be won! Every Thursday in March, you can participate in the Duel, an interactive game where selected contestants go head to head throwing dice, with prizes from $750 to $1 million! It’s easy to join: starting at 4 p.m. on Thursdays, get your numbered bracelet at the entrance to the Casino. The bracelet is your entry in the draws to select duel participants. If you love to dance, here’s your chance! Every Friday until April 1, participate in free interactive dance games à la Dance Dance Revolution. Pick your favourite song, grab a dance partner, and away you go. Wow onlookers with your best moves, wearing a beautiful checked shirt or stylish fur hat! In the Zone, every Friday from 9:30 p.m. (It’s quite a workout! I danced to Mambo No. 5 and I was exhausted, but I had a blast.)
|Your exotic adventure at the Casino may have quenched your thirst for a tropical getaway—or sharpened it! Either way, you’re sure to have lots of #Outaouaisfun at Copacabanashak, on until April 10 at the Casino du Lac-Leamy.|
