Celebrate the end of summer with style! From September 2 to 4, Mackenzie King Estate is holding its annual Family Event. Visitors are welcome to this splendid estate to participate in the many free activities available. The sun will be out: bring a picnic lunch!

Come between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. for an array of activities that will please everyone.

Attend any of the concerts that are set to take place in this dreamlike setting. You can listen to folk or jazz music on the Kingswood side, or classical music at the Abbey Ruins. There’s no denying that the atmosphere is perfect.  Swing dancing is also planned for the occasion (who doesn’t like swing dancing?), as well as horse and carriage rides, and games that were popular during the time of Canada's 10th Prime Minister. Leave your tablet at home and come play some croquet, horseshoes or bean bags!

You can also watch the craft and artisan demonstrations, including blacksmithing, lace making and pottery making. This is a great opportunity to show the kids some little-known trades.

Come and taste a delicious piece of Mackenzie King’s family fruitcake. You can even get the recipe to make it at home.

It goes without saying that a hike on the Gatineau Park trails should be part of your day. The Waterfall Trail is one that is easy for the whole family. Plan to spend about an hour if you decide to explore it.
