Montreal, come on over!

Published on January 14 2019

Dear Montreal,

I have to hand it to you, you don’t give up easily. After promising me last year that you’d changed, here you are again, serenading me (from a Ferris wheel—I admit, I’m impressed) to come back to you. But I’m not easily convinced. I need solid evidence: gestures, actions, a real commitment on your part.

You have to understand that I have my life here, and I have literally everything I need to be happy. I do whatever takes my fancy: cross-country skiing in Gatineau Park in the morning, and la dolce vita at Nordik Spa-Nature in the afternoon. I explore city and country at my own pace, and I enjoy partying every now and then, winter and summer, at the Gatineau Beerfest and in Old Hull. Believe it or not, this is a fun place to be.

I’m a strong and independent region, you know. I have a very full life here, and I really like it. So if this is going to work, we have to consider each other “added extras” for a touch of variety. After all, we’re only a two-hour drive apart! And the train trip between Montreal and Ottawa is so pleasant.

So here’s my challenge: Come join me here and we’ll go on a fantastic getaway. Let’s spend a weekend in my corner of the province, and rediscover our inner child.

How about bundling up for a skate on the Rideau Canal Skateway (complete with hot chocolate and a BeaverTail)? Or visiting a museum? Do you like art, nature, history, science …? Because we have it all. How can you resist a gourmet meal prepared with fresh local ingredients? One thing for sure: I can promise you starry skies every night.

The ball’s in your court, Montreal. The next part of our story is up to you. So, when are you coming over?
