The Outaouais, a family destination
The Outaouais is made for family adventures. Together, experience magical moments outdoors, in the water, in the air … or even deep in the wilderness. Here are a few ideas for must-do activities that will please both children and parents.
Gatineau, gateway to the outdoors
Getting outdoors with your family is easy in Gatineau! The city has 365 parks (that’s a park a day for a year!), beautiful beaches, and over 300 kilometres of cycling and recreational pathways. Need a paddleboard, a bike, a draisienne (learning bike) or a canoe? Visit one of the area’s five sports equipment rental sites: Des Cèdres Park (new this year!), the centre nautique de La Lièvre, the Lake Beauchamp or Lake Leamy outdoor centre, or the Relais plein air du Parc de la Gatineau. Make the most of it—nature is right in our backyard!
For the Lac Leamy or Lac Beauchamp outdoor center, equipment reservations are made on the Ville de Gatineau's website. For Des Cedres Park or Relais plein air du parc de la Gatineau, equipment reservations can be made on the Relais plein air's website.
Nocturnal adventures in a water maze
This summer, explore the enchanted world of the water labyrinth at Eco-Odyssée nature park at dusk! In the evening, try the Twilight or Moonlight adventure and navigate the labyrinth by paddle boat, canoe or paddle board. A perfect excursion for admiring the most beautiful sunsets or learning to find your way in the dark. At nightfall, the forest and cliffs light up to tell the stories of the marsh’s emblematic animals, as the immersive Eco-Noctura experience opens the door to a magical world of sound, light and poetry.
High above Canada’s Capital Region
It’s here at last: the world’s first interprovincial zip line! From a 36-metre (120-foot) tower, launch yourself over the Ottawa River. Interzip Rogers offers you a 360-degree panorama of the region, with unique views of Parliament Hill, the Zibi site and Old Hull. One for the bucket list!
Parc Omega: 30 years of family memories!
For 30 years, the animals at Parc Omega have fascinated visitors young and old. Along a 12-kilometre drive, you will discover Canadian wildlife in its natural habitat. Omega By Night, a nighttime walking tour with sounds and lights, is back for a third season. The park offers several other activities, including walking trails, a visit to the old-fashioned farm and unusual accommodation to extend your stay. How would you like to spend the night among the grey wolves or in a tipi?
399 Route 323 North, Montebello
Be sure to visit the new OmegaBon restaurant, located just outside the park! A true gourmet experience with a northern flavour, featuring fresh local seasonal products. Reserve online or by phone.
