TOP 5: BEST OF THE SUMMER
WAIT! Summer is not over yet! Here's the proof:
5: POTAGER EARDLEY
There's plenty for everyone! It’s harvest time at Potager Eardley. Remember those first strawberries of July? Well, Potager Eardley has more strawberries on offer even as the fall approaches. So you can end your summer the same way it started. Raspberries are also ready to be picked. Be careful! If you bring your kids (or any children for that matter) to pick their own fruit, each child under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The berries have been carefully tended all season long and need to be handled with care! The fruit and vegetable stand is also open. You can buy squash, cucumbers, lettuce, carrots, beans, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn, and more.
4: VALLÉE DES ROSIERS
Starry, starry night . . . If you enjoy stargazing, you’ll be in your glory under the Pontiac sky. Hop in the car and head to Vallée des Rosiers at Otter Lack. You’ll find a couple there that has an orchard, vineyard, maple trees—and raises sled dogs. In a small cabin with a removable roof, you can look at the sky through a huge telescope. Several packages are available for maximum enjoyment of this stargazers’ haven. You can sleep on the site, and then go home with pictures you took with the telescope of the starlit sky, and freshly picked grapes from the vineyard. The time is ripe!
Thumb your nose at fall and make a splash! The heated slides at Mont-Cascades Water Park await you for the last weekend of the season. It's time to try them all! Did you know that the same slides can be found at world famous water parks like Canada’s Wonderland and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach?
2: ALTITUDE GYM
Here's an activity you can do rain or shine. Climb the walls of a former church! Located in the Hull sector of Gatineau, Altitude Gym is an indoor climbing centre for the whole family. One complex is designed for those who want to climb on a variety of surfaces, while the Clip 'N Climb area has a mix of indoor climbing and amusement park activities. It’s a boost of adrenaline and pure fun!
How well do you know the Ottawa River? One of its most beautiful views is where it becomes Lac Deschênes, right next to Aylmer. Experience this incredible body of water in the most pleasant of boats: the sailboat! Captain Normand will teach you some sailing techniques and even let you steer the boat. Who knows? You may become a sailing enthusiast! This is a three-hour excursion you’ll never forget.
