Week of September 22: Art and nature go hand in hand

Published on September 22 2014

Now is the time to get outdoors, enjoy the crisp fresh air, and admire nature’s fall colours in all their splendour. This week’s suggestions offer a happy combination of art and nature … with a hint of escape:

Artists in their Environment

Don’t miss the 26th annual Artists in their Environment studio tour in Chelsea, Wakefield and La Pêche. September 27–28 and October 3–4, local artists and craftspeople welcome you to their studios nestled in the beautiful Collines-de-l’Outaouais. It’s a great opportunity to do a little Christmas shopping before the holiday madness starts.

High above the Outaouais region

The Outaouais region is packed with green spaces—and activities you can enjoy from ground level to the treetops! Dare to test your skill (and your courage) on one of the region’s aerial adventure courses. Give Tarzan a run for his money at Chutes Coulonge Park, Arbraska Laflèche or the Camp Fortune Aerial Experience.

Hike to the summit

Venture to the heart of the Petite‑Nation La Lièvre for a nature hike at the Centre d’aventure et de plein air des Montagnes Noires outdoor centre. Why here? Besides its nine trail loops, more than 16 km of trails and interpretive nature panels, the Parc des Montagnes Noires features a 426‑metre‑high lookout with a spectacular view of Mont Tremblant and the surrounding valley. Be sure to bring your camera!
