What's on in the Outaouais December 6 - 12
All around the Outaouais, we’re enthusiastically celebrating the arrival of winter. Here are some of the activities going on in the region this week!
ACTIVITES AND EVENTS
AT PARC OMÉGA
At Parc Oméga, you can welcome Christmas in many ways. Every Saturday and Sunday from December 7 to 22, Santa Claus will be there to greet young visitors. (Makes sense: reindeer like to get together with their elk and caribou colleagues before the holiday season.) From December 1 to 25, you can hunt for the elves hiding in the park. They’re everywhere! And all winter long, you can enjoy horse-drawn sleigh rides and snowshoeing. Did you know that snowshoe rental is free? Parc Oméga clearly doesn’t do hibernation!
Parc Oméga, 399 Route 323, Montebello
FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
Every Saturday in December, Coulonge Falls Park is all lit up. It’s the Festival of Lights! Follow a 1-km illuminated trail with a different theme every week. For example, December 7 is Yule Loggers Night. Come and listen to tales from the lumber camps, and enjoy traditional music and the crowning of the best logger!
Coulonge Falls Park, 100 Promenade du Parc des Chutes, Mansfield-et-Pontefract
Saturdays in December from 5 to 10 p.m.
Adults $10, children $6, family of four $30.
WEDNESDAY QUIZ NIGHTS
A fierce competition rages every Wednesday night in Old Aylmer. But fear not, this is a friendly contest where trivia nerds are the big winners. In three rounds, test your general knowledge. Visit L’Autre Œil’s Facebook page for a clue about the evening’s theme.
Bistro L’Autre Œil, 152 Principale Street, Gatineau (Aylmer sector)
Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m.
Reservations not accepted. First come, first served.
The Vallée-de-la-Gatineau is pretty lucky to have such a great place to celebrate! The Bistro CarpeDiem is hosting several Holiday Tapas evenings. Sample these delicious small plates prepared with local ingredients (and love) in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
