Sam Tucker was born in Retford, a small town in the center of England some 200 kilometers from London. He began playing guitar as a teenager, and after studying linguistics he landed in Gaspésie in 2014 to pursue a French immersion internship. He then fell in love with the region and with the province. Based in the town of Gaspé, he wrote his first songs and performed them in local bars, interspersed with covers of American folk songs. In the summer of 2014, he traveled the United States, driving from Chicago to San Francisco, absorbing new experiences which he will later draw upon to write songs. Sam Tucker eases into life in his new hometown. On Sunday evenings, he watches the popular musical TV show La Voix with friends, who strongly encourage him to apply. In 2017, while visiting his family in England, a talent scout for the show urges him to participate in the selection process.
