MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND LOCAL PRODUCTS
Outaouais, 16 july, 2018 - Outaouais Tourism is launching a first-ever campaign to encourage people in the Outaouais to discover the region's attractions, their creators and the stories behind them. The main objective is to foster a sense of pride and strengthen residents' sense of belonging.
The first phase of the project shines the spotlight on food! It's all about restaurants, agrotourism, microbreweries, vineyards, etc. In this first instalment, 18 passionate local artisans tell their stories. “In addition to discovering menus, products and experiences, we want Outaouais residents to be touched by the authenticity of the stories and personalities involved,” says Outaouais Tourism board chair Geneviève Dumas.
You'll be seeing our “foodie” ambassadors throughout the summer, as the campaign will be rolled out through video interviews on Facebook, Instagram and the Outaouais Tourism website, advertorials in local newspapers (LeDroit, La Petite-Nation, Le Bulletin and La Revue), and posts on the Outaouais Tourism blog.
“What's good for the locals is good for the tourists! The first audience for any tourist attraction is without a doubt the local residents. Our region has top-notch products and restaurants, and we want people to discover them and spread the word!” noted Outaouais Tourism general manager France Bélisle, adding, “Local residents are our best ambassadors!”

Since 2017, Outaouais Tourism has been working with the local community to cultivate proud regional ambassadors. Tourism employees and residents alike have a role to play in promoting the destination. By discovering the treasures in their own back yard and appreciating the work behind them, residents develop a feeling of pride and a desire to share these secrets with visitors to the region!
