Getaway at Wapus Lodge
With its 33,000 km2 and 20,000 lakes, the Outaouais is a very popular hunting and fishing destination. The Vallée-de-la-Gatineau is the sector of the region where you'll find the most outfitters and going through its territory, you'll understand why. Get away from the madness of the city for a few days in the Outaouais' north; you'll find dense forests, lakes where you can't see the other shore, and an immense territory that makes you one with nature again.
One of the very nice outfitters in the region, Wapus Lodge is located in the region's northernmost sector, about a three and a half hour drive from Maniwaki. There, you can hunt bear, moose, and small game. You can fish for different types of trouts as well as walleye and pikes, the stars of the region's lakes. Before going deeper into our territory, have breakfast at Resto pub le Rabaska in Maniwaki and visit the Centre d'interprétation du doré jaune in Grand-Remous, to learn all there is to know about the walleye.
