The Great White North
Four days, three nights, and hundreds of kilometres of sparkling snow to blast through. Here’s our suggestion for a trip through the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau, in the northern part of the Outaouais, aka snowmobile heaven!
DAY 1 Start by parking your vehicle and trailer at the Gatineau Airport, conveniently located next to Autoroute 50. Look for the parking sign with the Association des motoneigistes de l’Outaouais (AMO) insignia. Head north on Trans-Québec trail 53. About 40 kilometres along, stop for lunch in Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, then pick up trail 43, which takes you through the beautiful winding valleys of Val-des-Bois. At the intersection, head north on trail 13. Just beyond Blue Sea, turn left on trail 322 and continue to your first overnight stop, Auberge Majopial, just over 200 km from your starting point! Enjoy a nice bottle from the impressive wine cellar, a fine meal and a warm bed—you deserve it!
DAY 2 In the morning, get back on trail 13 to Maniwaki. You can either buy your lunch there, or keep going to Grand-Remous. If you decide to pick something up in Maniwaki, we recommend stopping to eat at the beautiful Montcerf-Lytton wildlife reserve (trail 63). Get back on the trail with a song in your heart! From there, follow trails 63, 322 and 13 to loop back to Maniwaki. You’re not far from the Baskatong Reservoir, where you can spend the night at an outfitter’s. Our route takes you into town, to the Auberge du Draveur.
DAY 3 Head south on trail 13. The Brochetterie Milano in Gracefield is a good spot for lunch. Your final overnight stop will be at the Domaine Decelles resort on Lac Ste-Marie. It’s ideal for snowmobile groups: each room is like a mini-apartment!
DAY 4 Return to the Gatineau Airport (129 km).
