The Outaouais is best enjoyed in nature. With close to 33,000 km2 to explore, you won't run out of space to enjoy it! Spend a morning going through marshes and forests in a national park that is known as birdwatching heaven. You might even catch a glimpse of a turtle calmly crossing the road. After, walk through a large historic garden before watching bears in their natural environment or going shooting in a huge 265 km2 reserve. You can even spend the night there in a cottage by your own private lake. Inviting isn't it?

Parc national de Plaisance boasts a rich and diversified ecosystem where wildlife spotting is easy. Bike trails run through it and a boardwalk zigzags through a majestic marsh. In Montebello, discover the enchanting beauty of Manoir-Papineau and make sure to stop at Délice Champêtre, the finest snack bar in the area. Then return to the woods to observe bears at Kenauk Nature. You will even want to spend the night!

Located on a series of islands in the Ottawa River, the Parc national de Plaisance is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly birdwatchers: over 230 species can be observed all year. Witness the stunning sight of birds and ducks migrating, and turtles laying their eggs. Discover the park by hiking or biking the 26-km trail network, canoeing or kayaking through its lush environment, or participating in an interpretive activity. Rent a farmhouse, a traditional ready-to-camp tent or one of 120 campsites and extend your back-to-nature experience!

In order to carry out major restoration work on its historic buildings, the Manoir Papineau National Historic Site will be closed to the public for the 2020 tourist season. However, a Visitor Centre, located near the parking lot, will remain open to the public during peak season. Visitors can obtain tourist information from the centre and learn more about Parks Canada’s leadership in cultural resource conservation. Open daily, from 10 am to 5 pm, from June 20 to September 7 (closed on July 1st).

A gourmet snack bar with a focus on local and regional products. Homemade fries, creative classic burgers and vegi-burgers, upscale poutines, and hot dogs (classic or made with artisanal sausage) served with homemade condiments. The dairy bar serves a raviety of frozen desserts. Under new management since summer 2018.

If you wish to stay in the area a little longer, Kenauk Nature Nature rents luxurious cottages, each on its own lake. It is perfect to truly appreciate the region and its amny attractions, such as Parc Oméga, in front of which you will have passed getting to Kenauk.
