September 12 to 18: 3 reasons to leave the kids with the babysitter
We’re big fans of activities for the whole family, but every now and then it’s nice to get away for a romantic evening à deux or an outing with friends, just to change things up a bit! This week would be a good one to leave the kids with the babysitter and enjoy some grownup time.
2nd annual Nuit des onze saveurs
The second annual Nuit des onze saveurs wine and food show runs September 16–18 at the Fonderie de Gatineau. This year’s event features some 40 local exhibitors and producers, various tastings, and workshops and presentations on beer, chocolate and sushi.
The Casino goes country
Call up your friends and go holler “Yeee-hawww!” at the Casino du Lac-Leamy: until October 21, the theme is country! Check out the roulette demo tables, country hoedowns in the Zone, La Poule aux œufs d’or multimedia game, country-style cocktails, cowboy feasts with a Far West flavour in the Casino’s restaurants, line dancing at Bar 7, and last but not least, free mechanical bull roulette: take on the mechanical bull at the centre of a giant roulette wheel, and when you fall off, you win the prize associated with the number on which you land.
High above everything
The kids aren’t here, it’s time to get high … no, no, not like that! We mean trying an altitude activity that’s not open to the younger set. Bungee jumping or skydiving—it’s up to you, because in the Outaouais you can do both. Who is the bravest of them all?
Be sure to read our blog on Thursday, September 15, when Bianca will share her seven favourite finds in Old Aylmer, another great destination for a grownups’ night out.
