The NAC Orchestra welcomes beloved Conductor Emeritus Pinchas Zukerman back to the podium to play and conduct in an evening of music that celebrates strings, a perfect match for classical music novices and aficionados alike. His long and devoted history with each of these works makes this a quintessentially Pinchas program. Poignant, passionate, and filled with sweet sadness, Chausson’s Poème rises and falls like the waves, ebbing and flowing into bright corners and dark, secret places. The Poème is perfectly fulfilled in the capable hands of internationally renowned violinist Viviane Hagner, who was first showcased at the NAC as a young artist and student of Pinchas Zukerman, well over a decade ago. In a special treat for lovers of classical music, Zukerman takes up the viola to play Mozart’s delightful Sinfonia Concertante, with Hagner on violin.
