This summer, the party keeps going at the Casino du Lac-Leamy!
Warning: Reading this blog post could cause a sudden craving to stay up late for the next few days. Why? Because this summer, the party keeps going at the Casino du Lac-Leamy! Until August 20, discover a host of great reasons to spend your summer evenings at one of the Outaouais region’s top attractions!
For a few years now, the Casino du Lac-Leamy has partnered with a number of regional events and festivals. Over the next few weeks, Bar 7 will present several free concerts. July 13 and 14, enjoy shows presented in association with the RBC Bluesfest: on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., catch Madeline Merlo, and Thursday at 8:30 it’s DJ Champion and his G-Strings. Other artists coming up include the Boomers, DJ Sugars and Fats, Tone Call, DJ Pat Frazer, and Fastlane.
From August 3–7, the Festival country du Grand Gatineau takes over the parking lot of the Hilton Lac-Leamy—and remember, once the shows under the big top are over, the party keeps going at the Casino’s Bar 7! Enjoy performances by Pierre Poirier and Outaouais country artists (August 3) and Irvin Blais and the band Xception (August 4), and a tribute to Julie Daraîche and French cancan (August 7). And it’s all free!
Rockin’ to the sounds of the talented artists at the Casino can give you quite a thirst. Try one of the special cocktails available at all of the Casino’s bars and restaurants: the Blue PUR and the Red Bull PUR, both made with PUR vodka, distilled right here in Quebec. Bonus: the price of your cocktail includes the souvenir glass! I tried the Blue PUR and ohhhh, was it ever good. It tastes like juice, not like vodka at all.
Slot machine lounge
On Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., you can try out featured slot machines for free. A dozen different machines are available every two weeks in the Red Bull Lounge, and hosts will answer any questions. It’s a great way to learn!
And take note: text the Casino this summer and you could win up to $3,000! I leave it to you to follow up!
Mmm, mmm, good!
At least once this summer, you have to experience the outdoor patio at Arôme Seafood and Grill—it’s one of the nicest in the region. As if you needed another excuse to spend a whole evening at the Casino …
Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m., Arôme offers a Brazilian BBQ. Just reading the menu makes me drool: large chicken brochettes with a piri-piri-style marinade; large beef brochettes with a whiskey and black pepper marinade; leg of lamb, pork loin, or glazed sausage brochettes; sautéed shrimp; mussels and sauce; grilled fish; and more. Everything is cooked and served right at your table on the patio.
And don’t leave without a little something from the restaurant’s famous dessert table! To view the complete menu, click here.
When I last visited, the weather was poor so the Brazilian BBQ wasn’t available. Our server recommended a dish that’s unique in the region: the Angus dry-aged beef from Alberta. The beef is stored for 70 days in an aging chamber at a controlled temperature, providing the ideal conditions needed for the meat to age to perfection. You can see the various cuts on display when you enter the restaurant. Aged beef is characterized by slightly sweeter notes and a light nutty flavour. It was truly outstanding!
Whichever restaurant you choose, I strongly recommend making reservations.
The takeaway from all this is: this summer, the party keeps going at the Casino du Lac-Leamy!
