Week of June 2, 2014
The Outaouais region is a gigantic playground, and new activities are added every day. From the downtown core to the heart of nature, indoors and out, you’ll find plenty of things to do as a family, as a couple or with friends. It’s no exaggeration: in the Outaouais region, what we really need is a 10‑day week.
What’s on this week:
Gatineau welcomes the world’s cycling elite
From June 6 to 8, the world’s top cyclists converge on Gatineau for the Grand Prix Cycliste de Gatineau: the Grand Prix Cycliste Gatineau Féminin (international race for elite women), Grand Prix Cycliste Gatineau Masculin (for men), Gran Fondo, Medio Fondo, Chrono Gatineau and Coupe Québec. On Saturday and Sunday, the event’s Vélo Village welcomes families with a host of activities for all ages.
See art of every kind in the Pontiac
Just an hour’s drive from Gatineau and Ottawa, discover art of every kind during the 25th annual Pontiac Artists’ Studio Tour. On the weekends of June 7–8 and 14–15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 18 local professional artists invite you to visit their studios, where you’ll find acrylic, oil and watercolour paintings, fused glass, handmade paper, pottery, ceramics, woodworking and more!
Now you can have breakfast at the museum!
Something new at the Canadian Museum of Nature: on Sunday mornings until August 31, from 9 to 11 a.m., before touring the exhibitions you can enjoy a hearty breakfast buffet in the beautiful Queens’ Lantern of this magnificent heritage “castle.” From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., brunch is served, featuring roast beef, glazed ham, pasta, assorted salads, wild salmon gravlax, fresh fruit, and delectable desserts. A very tasty add-on to your museum experience!
