What’s On in the Outaouais in November

Published on October 27 2022

November is often a dreary month marked by shortening days and the first snow flurries. To add comfort, joy and laughter to your day, check out our suggestions for activities that will make November much more bearable—thats a promise!

Go see a show

Visit Cabaret La Basoche in the heart of Old Aylmer to see a play, a show for young audiences, or a live performance by talented singer–songwriters.

Productions Les 2 vallées and the Salle Desjardins de la Petite Nation present Quebec artists who need no introduction. Keep an eye on the program!

Come to Old Hull for an evening of live music or comedy at the Minotaure. For a more intimate experience, book tickets for a show at the Salle Jean-Despréz, which seats just over 250 people, or the Théâtre de l’Île, a former water tower built in 1886 and now converted into a municipal theatre. Take the opportunity to have a bite to eat before the show at one of Old Hull’s restaurants.

Go all out and get tickets for a dynamic show at the Théâtre du Casino. Keep the fun going by challenging one of the dealers at the Casino du Lac-Leamy

Check out the program at the Salle Odyssée, a favourite venue with artists. Have a drink with friends before the show and sample the Outaouais products served at the bar.

Have fun in good company

As a family, with friends or on your own, sign up for one of the Gatineau Loppet‘s cross-country ski races. There’s a course for everyone, from 2K to 50K, in free or classic style, timed or in Discovery mode! Registration is now open for this popular mid-February event. Take advantage of the early bird rate, available until December 4 inclusive! Be part of Canada’s largest historic cross-country ski gathering, and share your passion with 2,500 skiers from across the region, across the country and around the world!

Get away from it all by boarding the Aventure Outaouais minibus for an all-inclusive microbrewery tour. Visit four breweries, meet the brewmasters, taste craft beers and enjoy a good poutine! Reserve now—tickets are selling like hotcakes.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Gatineau Olympiques by taking in a hockey game at the Slush Puppie Centre. Get there early and stop in at Le 1973 Resto Bar Loft for a hearty pre-game meal! Be sure to try the pizza.

Take advantage of the cold weather to plan some indoor activities. Learn about the fascinating history of our currency, or enjoy unique experiences in the Ingenium museums. Try a new activity by donning virtual reality goggles or testing your axe-throwing skills at the VR82 Virtual Reality Arcade.

Take time for yourself

Plan a restful getaway to the Outaouais and stay overnight at a B&B or cottage. Stop in at one of the local pastry shops for a decadent treat. Sleep in and enjoy your breakfast pastry in the comfort of your room while gazing out the window at the beauty of the region. Light a candle from Doozy Candle and listen to the sound of the rain. Sit in a cozy café and finish that book you started a long time ago. Then stroll the streets of the Outaouais’ quaint villages, visiting unique boutiques along the way.

Gather around a table and share a sweet or savoury fondue. Turn to La Trappe à fromage for a fondue recipe custom-made for you and your guests. If you’re more of a raclette fan, the establishment has several kinds of machines for rent. While you’re there, stock up on cold cuts and pâtés. For dessert, Chocolats Favoris is the place to go for chocolate fondue. Enjoy your fondue on the spot or choose your favourite chocolate flavour to make one at home. Don’t forget to try the churro fries!
