What’s On in the Outaouais in November

Published on October 31 2023

November is often a dreary month marked by shortening days and the first snow flurries. To add comfort, joy and laughter to your day, check out our suggestions for activities that will make November much more bearable—thats a promise!

Go see a show

As a couple or with friends, the Carrefour culturel ESTacade is your destination for dinner and a show. On November 3, listen to country singer–songwriter Martin Duford while enjoying a vegetarian meal or a cowboy beef casserole! On November 17, discover the impressive impersonations of Stéphane Bélanger over an Italian-themed meal.

On November 11, Salle Odyssée presents the enchanting concert Le Violon Rouge, performed by the Orchestre symphonique de Gatineau and world-renowned violinist Lara St. John.

Head to the heart of Old Aylmer for more entertaining evenings! At Cabaret La Basoche, enjoy a play, a children’s show or a performance by talented singer–songwriters. At the British Hotel, laugh out loud at the comedy shows on November 21 (in French) or December 19 (in English).

Plan an evening in Old Hull to attend a musical performance or comedy show at the Minotaure. For classic and contemporary theatre, there’s always something interesting on at the Théâtre de l’Île. At Salle Jean-Despréz, intimate candlelit concerts await you. Before the show, have a bite to eat in one of Old Hull’s restaurants.

Finally, Salle Desjardins de la Petite-Nation regularly present leading Quebec artists. Keep an eye on the program!

Have fun in good company

From September 29 to November 12, the Centre d’action culturelle de la MRC de Papineau presents Annie Perreault’s exhibition Héritage. Inspired by climate change and its effects on nature, the striking works are created with recycled materials. Enjoy this enriching multi-sensory experience with your family. Stay informed about even more cultural events in the region thanks to Tout Culture, an online event calendar hosted by Culture Outaouais.

Get ready for an evening at Fairmont Le Château Montebello, where local delicacies will awaken all your senses! Discover local cuisine and sip some of Quebec’s finest ciders, beers and wines at the resort’s Autumn Harvest curated culinary event on November 17.

Are you a foodie? Then L’Outaouais au menu is for you! Thursday through Saturday evenings from November 9 to 18, (re)discover the region’s restaurants and enjoy a three-course meal for the fixed price of $59 (before tax and tip). Savour creative dishes made with local ingredients.

Now’s the time to get active and challenge yourself! At Klimat Fitness & Bouldering, use every muscle in your body to climb a bouldering wall, and test your agility on various specialized structures. Yoga and fitness classes are also available.

As a family, with friends or on your own, sign up for one of the Gatineau Loppet‘s cross-country ski races. There’s a course for everyone, from 2K to 50K, in free or classic style, timed or in Discovery mode! Registration is now open for this popular mid-February event. Take advantage of the early bird rate, available until December  3 inclusive!

Hockey season is well underway, and what better way to support your local team than from the stands? For an action-packed outing with friends, cheer on the Gatineau Olympiques at the Slush Puppie Centre. Before the game, meet up at the complex’s restaurant, Le 1973 Resto Bar Loft, for a great pizza.

You don’t always have to pull out your wallet to have a good time! Here are some ideas for free activities: visit museums and interpretation centres, explore walking trails and admire unique works of art.

Take a coffee break

The arrival of colder weather makes us want to huddle indoors and enjoy a nice hot drink. Wherever you are, you’ll find a comforting café nearby where you can take a break! Settle in at the British Café, Moca Loca or Café Bouleau to chat with friends or finish that book you started ages ago.

With all these tantalizing aromas, you’re sure to fall for a delicious pastry. How about a chocolate éclair, a cream puff or a sugar tartlet? Besides tasty fresh breads, Maison Oddo also sells pastries fresh from the oven!

In Montebello, stop off at La Belle Pâtissière. Given its Parisian café vibe, you won’t be surprised by the praline-filled desserts on offer. Enjoy a cup of tea and admire the creative cakes. In Petite Nation, order a lunchtime panini at Miss Macaron and round out your meal with a sweet treat. Chances are you’ll opt for a colourful macaroon.
