Old Chelsea Square: A Charming Destination

Published on May 4 2023

Located in the heart of the picturesque village of Old Chelsea, Old Chelsea Square has become a popular destination in recent years for foodies and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you’re on a date or a business trip, a family day out or an excursion with friends, the local businesses that make up Old Chelsea Square have a lot to offer!

The Chelsea Pub: Hearty pub grub

It all started with the Chelsea Pub. Originally constructed in 1875, the building has undergone several transformations over the years; today, it’s one of the municipality’s oldest heritage buildings and an anchor point of Old Chelsea Square. Take a seat on the beautiful patio and treat yourself to some tasty comfort food. Sip a local beer or a cocktail made with fresh ingredients and local brandy. Rent one of the rooms for private events such as weddings, family reunions, team meetings or birthdays.

Les Lofts du Village: Relaxing rooms

Book a stay at Les Lofts du Village, a boutique hotel centrally located on Old Chelsea Square and steps from the entrance to Gatineau Park. Spend a restful night in a comfortable studio or fully equipped loft. For a business meeting or team gathering, rent Le Refuge loft, a private space for up to 14 people that’s been designed and furnished to promote creativity, collaboration and inspiration. Biscotti & cie’s catering service can provide group meals. The Lofts also offer long-term stays, as well as packages combining many of Chelsea’s attractions to make exploring the area as easy as possible. Discover all the amenities offered by the Lofts du Village.

La Petite Grocerie: Local products

Besides serving as the reception area for Les Lofts du Village hotel, La Petite Grocerie is a boutique specializing in Quebec products, including fine groceries and original items created by local artists and craftspeople. Browse the boutique’s selection of wellness products, Quebec wines and beers, jewellery, specialty foods, clothing (including selected designs from the #OutaouaisFun collection), and more.

La Distillerie du Square: Quality spirits

The Distillerie du Square is the first distillery in the Collines-de-l’Outaouais and the second in the greater Outaouais region. It’s scheduled to open in November 2023, and will house both a boutique and an Economuseum where you can learn more about the distillery process and the history of the village. There will also be tasting workshops and guided tours. While you wait for the opening, try the Gin du Jardin in the Chelsea Pub’s cocktails or pick up a bottle at the SAQ and replicate your favourite beverage recipes. Follow their famous “Archangel” recipe and impress your guests with this delicious and refreshing cocktail!

Biscotti & cie: Divine coffees

Take a well-deserved break at Biscotti & cie and sit down with a coffee to admire the scenery through the large windows. Gather with friends around a table to enjoy a hearty breakfast, share one of the café’s fabulous wood-fired pizzas, or order gourmet sandwiches to take out on a busy day. For dessert, treat yourself to a pastry that’s as beautiful as it is delicious! Head up to the second floor, settle in among the cushions, and lose yourself in the pages of your book. In the evening, attend a dinner show, sign up for an open mic night, and sample the cocktails. Biscotti & cie also offers a catering service.
