Summer Dog Walks in the Outaouais
Spend some quality time with the whole family, including your furry friend! The Outaouais region is full of hiking spots that are ideal for energetic humans and dogs alike. Whether you’re looking for woodland paths, scenic lookouts or refreshing rivers, here’s a list of trails to explore together.
Note: Dogs must be leashed and must stay on the trails.
HIKES WITH A VIEW
Oiseau Rock Trail
1 Chemin Schyan, Sheenboro
9 km round trip / 3 to 4 hours | Hiking boots are essential for this expedition. The trail can be slippery and treacherous in places. Exercise caution and stay alert during hunting season.
Mont Morissette Regional Park | Trails 1 & 2
Chemin du Lac Long, Blue Sea
Trail 1: 1.4-km loop / 30 minutes | Trail 2: 4.6-km loop / 2 hours | Both trails lead to an observation tower with beautiful views of Blue Sea Lake.
Base de plein air Air-Eau-Bois | Trails: Le grand point de vue (PGV) and Le petit point de vue (PPV)
32 Chemin de la Base de Plein Air, Denholm
PGV: 2.7 km | PPV: 1.2-km loop | Both trails offer beautiful views of the Poisson Blanc Reservoir.
Montagnes noires de Ripon | Sentier du grand pic
39 Chemin de la Montagne Noire, Ripon
2.7 km / 55 min. | Climb the observation tower for superb views of Petite Nation. | The park has 17 trails.
Gatineau Park | Wolf Trail
Parking P13, Blanchet Beach
8.3-km loop / 3 hours | 220-metre climb along a steep forest path to the Tawadin lookout. | Dogs are not allowed on the beach or in the picnic area.

From Wyman to l’Isle-aux-Allumettes
92 km | Leashed dogs are allowed along the trail’s entire length. | The path runs along an old railway line in the Pontiac; you’ll be charmed by the fields, marshes and forests along the way.

Vallée-de-la-Gatineau, Low to Messines
72 km | Leashed dogs are allowed along the trail’s entire length. | Between Blue Sea and Messines, the trail follows the shoreline of beautiful Blue Sea Lake, and there are several rest stops along the way.
La route des Zingues
Chemin Lac Gagnon, Duhamel
24.3 km | The hike takes you to a summit and several lakes. The trail intersects with the Caroline trail (3.8 km), which leads to the summit of Mount Weskarini. | At P1, in Pimatina Park on the Julie trail, dogs are not allowed.
Nakkertok Park Trail, Val-des-Monts
62 Route du Carrefour, Val-des-Monts
7.2-km loop (trails 35, 33, 37, 31E & 31W) / 2 hours | You’ll be hiking on groomed trails through a sometimes dense forest, among cedars and rocks and along a small river.

Chutes Coulonge Adventure Park
100 Promenade du Parc-des-Chutes, Mansfield-et-Pontefract
1.2 km | The hike along the edge of a canyon offers an extraordinary view of Coulonge Falls.
Denholm Falls Park | Sentier du Marais
830 Paugan Road, Denholm
3.7-km loop | The trail leads to the marsh lookout. For a shorter hike, take the Sentier de la Falaise (0.4 km) or the Sentier du Ruisseau (0.6 km).
Sentier du Lièvre
121 Chemin du Pont-de-Bois, Val-des-Bois
1.7-km loop | A gorgeous beginner-level trail along the Lièvre River, ideal for a family walk with your dog.
GATINEAU PARK WITH A BARK
Lusk Cave Trail
300 Chemin du Lac-Philippe, Saint-Cécile-de-Masham (Parent Beach parking lot)
12-km loop / 4 hours 30 minutes | Dogs must be leashed and must stay on the trail. Dogs are not allowed in the cave, on the beach, in the picnic area, in the campground or in the water.
Lauriault Trail
Parking lot P6, Mackenzie King Estate
4.5-km loop / 1 hour 45 minutes | Difficult | The trail winds through a beautiful mixed forest. It leads to a lookout point and a waterfall.
Champlain Trail
Champlain Lookout parking lot
1.1-km loop / 30 min. | Intermediate | Leads to the top of the Eardley Escarpment. Along the trail, you can learn about the unique plants that grow on the Escarpment and about the geological history of the area.
Sugarbush Trail
Parking lot P4 or the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre in Chelsea
1.9-km loop / 30 min. | Easy | A beautiful hike through the woods near the Visitor Centre.
Horizon Trail
Parking lot P7
5.3-km loop / 2 hours | Difficult | The trail has a 100-metre ascent and several viewpoints with panoramic views.
Dunlop Trail

0.5 km / 15 min. | Easy | A short trail along Fortune Creek. | Dogs are not allowed in the picnic area.
