What’s on in the Outaouais in February

Published on January 31 2023

February is the month of love! Even if the outdoor temperature is dropping, the Outaouais is full of exciting activities to warm your heart. Discover our suggestions to show winter how much you love it, especially since its been a long time coming this year!

Go play outside

Bundle up, hop on a Ski-Doo or Can-Am with an experienced guide from the BRP Experience Centre, and discover the area around the charming village of Montebello. These guided tours invite you to have fun on the trails in the heart of a century-old forest. Enjoy an unusual winter experience!

When the weather permits, lace up your skates and head to one of the region’s rinks. Skate on icy trails in an enchanting forest setting, or stay in town and take a spin on the world’s largest natural ice rink: the Rideau Canal Skateway. You’re sure to find a place that suits your style.

The cold weather does have the advantage of thickening the ice on the region’s lakes and rivers—an essential factor for ice fishing! This winter, try ice fishing with your family or friends. The region’s waterways are full of trout, even in winter! Drop a line in one of Kenauk Nature‘s private lakes, take advantage of Pêche Blanche Gatineau‘s expert advice, or treat yourself to an ice fishing package at the Centre touristique du Lac-Simon. Who do you think will catch the biggest fish?

Take advantage of the snowpack to enjoy cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on the Outaouais’ trails. Explore over 500 kilometres of trails for classic and skate skiing. Challenge yourself and test your endurance by participating in a cross-country ski event.

If you’re not inspired by these suggestions, close your eyes and pick something at random from our list of 100 things to do this winter!
